Retrospect
About 10 hours into flight and I am starting to really lose track of my sense of time. Jake’s sound asleep thanks to the awesome fact we each got 3 seats to ourselves. Whatever happened to get me on some super special list with Delta makes me feel like I won the airline lottery. I buy or use miles to get basic economy (cheapest airfare stripped of most amenities like seat selection) yet I always seem to be upgraded (supposedly impossible with this fare) or just treated very well, like with a full row to lay down on for a 13+ hour flight! Anyway, my Delta love aside, I’m starting to feel the excitement set in of what’s ahead of us. I tried to plan out our itinerary but ran out of time. Instead of being my usual stressed self in this circumstance, I’m feeling deja vú of 11 years ago when I landed in Shanghai with a mix of pure curiosity, anticipation/anxiety, and adrenaline all in one. The difference is that this time I know it’s due to the adventure that lies ahead with the new element ...
